COURSE MACHINERY EQUIPMENT NR 12 ENGLISH
Technical Name: Safety Course in the Operation of Machinery and Equipment NR 12 in English
What is the NR 12 Machinery and
Equipment Course like?
The main purpose of the Machinery and Equipment Course is to meet the
requirements of the regulatory standard NR 12 of the Ministry of Labor and
Employment of Brazil, which establishes the minimum safety requirements for
machinery and equipment used in the work environment. The course aims to enable
participants to understand the requirements of NR-12 and its practical
application, recognize the main sources of risks in machinery and equipment,
implement protective measures, such as safety devices, guards and emergency
stop systems, perform inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and
equipment, and train and guide operators on the safe use of machinery.
How should Security Systems be
selected and installed, according to NR 12?
"Safety systems must be
selected and installed in such a way as to meet the following requirements:
Have a safety category according
to the risk assessment provided for in the official technical standards;
Be under the technical
responsibility of a legally qualified professional;
Have technical compliance with the
control system to which they are integrated;
Installation in a way that makes
it difficult to circumvent it;
(a)be kept under automatic
surveillance, i.e. monitoring, if indicated by the risk assessment, in
accordance with the required safety category, except for purely mechanical
safety devices; and
Paralysis of dangerous movements
and other risks when failures or abnormal work situations occur."
What is the importance of
Preventive Maintenance for the operational safety of machinery and equipment?
Preventive maintenance plays a key
role in ensuring the operational safety of machinery and equipment, allowing:
Identify and correct problems before
they become serious, preventing accidents and damage;
Keep safety devices, such as
guards and emergency stop systems, in perfect working order;
Detect wear and deterioration in
parts and components, allowing them to be replaced before failures occur;
Extend the useful life of
equipment, avoiding unscheduled downtime and maintaining productivity;
Promote the reliability of
equipment, ensuring that it operates safely and efficiently;
Comply with legal requirements,
such as NR-12, which requires periodic inspections and maintenance.
